The Belt System 

In Taekwondo a student progresses in rank from White Belt to Black Belt. In the belt cycle, each color stands for a specific stage of achievement. Descriptions are as follows.

White Belt
This is the beginning stage. The white color symbolizes purity and no knowledge of Martial Arts.

​Yellow Belt
The yellow color symbolizes energy and brightness like the sun.

Green Belt
The green color symbolizes growth and the power to soar to a higher level.

Blue Belt
The blue color represents the sky, both mentally and physically. ​​

Red Belt
The red color represents blood, life, energy, maturity, respect, and honor.

Brown Belt
The brown color represents power, stability, agility, and strength.

The black belt is a combination of all of the colors, with calmness, dignity, and the maturity of the student in the art.
